Jonathan is an eighth generation Hoosier, born and raised in Delaware County, he is a graduate of Yorktown High and he holds degrees in Economics and Risk Management from the Miller College of Business at Ball State University. Jonathan and his wife Mollee live in Yorktown and have two sons, eight-year-old Owen, and a four-year-old named Dash.
Jonathan is an entrepreneur, Economist, and visionary leader who works every day to create opportunities in our new economy. A track athlete who ran the hurdles in college, he has leapt roadblocks throughout his business career. He owned and has worked with startups, seasoned companies, and individuals to grow their ideas and businesses.
Shortly after finishing his undergraduate work, Jonathan worked as a commodity trader where he oversaw a multi-billion dollar book of business. Since that time, he has started seven small businesses and earned his MBA.
As a small business owner, Jonathan has managed multi-million dollar budgets, and employed a workforce of over 60 employees at the businesses his wife and he owned. With a diverse background across many industries, they have owned a construction company, a childcare franchise, a wholesale distribution company, a plumbing company, a textile company, and he currently runs an economic consulting firm and recently started an agriculture technology company in Muncie.
For generations, both he and his wife’s families have been farmers, workers, and business owners right here in the 6th District. Mollee’s family was awarded a Hoosier Homestead Award for the Rush County family farm that they settled in 1837. Starting with a one-room log cabin built with their own two hands, generations of her family have worked the same land on that small farm her father and uncle still work today.
The roots of Jonathan’s family run equally as deep in the district. He is the 8th generation of Lamb’s to call East Central Indiana home, and they are proud to say that their boys will be the 9th generation to be raised and educated right here in the District. Like their ancestors, they want a better future for their children, but see a government that has too often attacked Hoosier values and liberties with big-government, liberal ideas.
As an Economist and business owner, Jonathan can see America is on a social and economic path of destruction. America needs common-sense Hoosier values to lead America through hard choices that our leadership in Washington has been unable to provide.
“I am not a politician. I am not running to win friends and get re-elected. I am running to make a difference.”
As an entrepreneur, Jonathan has experienced success and failure. You will not see politicians talk about “real-life” problems, or about their failures and missteps, but he will. He knows the ups and downs of life, the struggles of starting a business, and what it is like to make ends meet. Like so many of his fellow Hoosiers and the generations in their families before them, he and his wife did not have the luxury of having things handed to them. They worked hard, started businesses, and began a family. They had business failures, personal and family setbacks, and real life problems…problems that our politicians and Washington don’t seem to know and understand.
“Opportunity creates jobs, not the government. It is not the job of the government to give handouts.”
America cannot spend herself out of problems. It is the job of the federal government to put forward a fair tax policy that provides national security, education, and laws that create opportunity for Americans.
Jonathan believes that we can make America great again. He wants to return opportunities to Hoosiers and make Indiana and America great for generations to come. The people of Indiana, and the United States, don’t need promises from politicians. America needs solutions, and Jonathan knows what it takes to solve problems.
